More information

As societies, governments and businesses become increasingly reliant on the Internet for the normal functioning of every-day activities and the supply of essential services, protecting cyberspace from malicious activities has become a critical action point for policymakers globally. While digital and networked technologies promise much, the implications of successful attacks can be huge.

To deal with this growing threat, the European Commission launched in 2013 the European Cyber Security Strategy, presenting plans on how to best prevent and respond to cyber disruptions and attacks, and how to harmonise the cyber security capabilities in all Member States. Two years on, this conference was an opportunity to review what has been achieved  and what the remaining challenges are. It examined what is being done to ensure a secure digital environment for EU citizens and businesses and to promote a coherent international approach on cyber security. Having trust in the architecture of the digital age is key in delivering economic growth, security and prosperity.

Sessions at the event will explore:

  • Cyber Security in Europe: are we on the right track? What are the next steps?
  • Technical innovation, people and processes: strengthening preparedness against cyber incidents
  • Developing cyber defence capabilities and norms: defending Europe from external threats
