About the 2015 Conference
Bringing together over 200 delegates, The Reindustrialisation of Europe: Industry 4.0 - Innovation, jobs and growth took place on 23rd June 2015 in Brussels.
Context:
A key goal of the Europe2020 strategy has been to increase the contribution made by manufacturing to European GDP from 16% to 20% by 2020. The reindustrialisation of the European economy, if it is to be a globally competitive reality, faces many challenges. These include mega trends such as access to raw materials, climate change and energy prices, to more comparatively localised issues such as EU competition, industrial and tax policies, skills, education and employment matters.
The event discussed:
Eighteen months on from the European Commission’s communication “For a European Industrial Renaissance”, and with the Europe2020 strategy mid-term review public consultation results now in the public domain, this Forum Europe - RAND Europe joint conference initiative assessed Europe’s industrial policy, key outcomes from the public consultation, future priorities for policymakers, the role of industry, both hi-tech and otherwise, the future of R&D and investment, and the outlook for skills, jobs and growth in Europe.
