Segway www.segway.com
As a leader in two-wheeled electric mobility, it's always been Segway's vision to produce environmentally friendly short-distance transportation alternatives. Today, more and more people are using the Segway PT as an eco-friendly alternative for many of the short journeys that are typically made by car.
Zero-emissions are given off during operation, allowing you to go indoors with your Segway PT. It does draw electric power during recharge, but that electricity causes fourteen times less greenhouse gas emissions (PDF) than driving a car. After one year on your Segway PT you would have literally saved a ton of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere. (in fact it's probably more than that, a ton is based on average MPG, while most short distance driving results in much lower mileage.)
Environmentally friendly: when gliding on a Segway PT, you're doing more than just shifting your consumption from petroleum to electric. Everything about the PT was designed to use electricity as efficiently as possible. When you dig a little deeper, and compare the source fuel (petroleum vs. the fuel mix used to produce electricity), plus the cost of distributing or transporting the power, the Segway PT is eleven times more efficient than the average car, and over three times more efficient than even the highest-mileage scooters.

EMAS Mobility Team of the European Parliament www.europarl.europa.eu/parliament/expert/staticDisplay.do?language=EN&id=41
The European Parliament is committed to applying the EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) standard, with the aim of continuously improving its environmental performance with regard to its activities, products and services.
One of the European Parliament's major objectives in this domain is to reduce its carbon footprint by 30% between 2006 and 2020.
In 2010, the transport of persons accounted for 42% of the Institution’s total carbon footprint and is thus the largest single component of that footprint. It is therefore of the utmost importance to raise awareness about the environmental impacts of the EP's transport activities and above all encourage the Parliament's staff to act more responsibly when travelling.
For that reason, the EP's EMAS coordination team organises annually (in the three places of work) an awareness raising event dedicated to mobility - "EP Mobility Week".

European Parliament, DG Infrastructure and Logistics (DG INLO) www.inloweb.ep.parl.union.eu/inloweb/cms/lang/fr/Accueil
The Directorate-General for Infrastructure and Logistics is responsible for managing infrastructure and logistics in Parliament’s various places of work. The DG’s main objective is to make available to the Institution, in time, all of the goods and services falling within the DG’s competence, which are necessary for the proper conducts of Parliament’s legislative and administrative activities, in accordance with the relevant decisions of the Bureau.
The Mobility Week is an opportunity to present the mobility actions of DG INLO to encourage the Members and staff of Parliament to focus on sustainable transport (train, bus, tram and bike) instead of the car. Actions include Jobkaart in Luxembourg, STIB season tickets in Brussels, trunks, electric car and bicycle service at the Parliament. DG INLO will present a brochure on these actions as well as DG INLO Information Bulletin and a sticker for safer and more ecological driving.

- To promote sustainable transport alternatives, such as public transport, cycling, carsharing, carpooling, walking, etc.
At the Smart2Wheels exhibition, the EP Mobility Point will have a folding bike at the disposal of the visitors for demonstration and test. Staff of the European Parliament will receive a “Bike Pack” if they answer correctly 3 questions relating to cycling in Brussels. This “Bike Pack” will include lights for the bike, a fluorescent jacket and folders about cycling in Brussels. The EP Mobility Point will also provide personalised advice on the best cycling routes in Brussels.

FEMA - Federation of European Motorcyclists’ Associations www.fema-online.eu
The Federation of European Motorcyclists’ Association (FEMA) is the voice of the motorcycle and scooter users throughout Europe. FEMA is a democratic association representing 24 national motorcyclists’ organisations from 19 countries at the European Union and agencies of the United Nations.
FEMA is a strong supporter of the role of motorcycles in sustainable transport. Powered two-wheelers, scooters and motorcycles offer a credible alternative to the personal car: they are smaller, lighter, cheaper, more fuel-efficient and flexible enough to match most personal transport needs. New materials and now power sources can help develop this potential.
FEMA is promoting motorcycling as an alternative to other forms of motorised transport, while at the same time encouraging governments and manufacturers to improve the environmental sustainability of their products, so that powered two-wheelers can contribute to greener, more efficient transport in the future.
A presentation of FEMA's activities on environmental issues is here: http://www.fema-online.eu/uploads/documents/FEMA-ENVIRONMT-100dpi.pdf

FIM www.fim-live.com
The FIM, the “Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme” (International Motorcycling Federation), is the governing body for motorcycle racing, representing 101 national motorcycle federations divided into six regional continental unions. The FIM runs 49 FIM World Championships and Prizes in five different disciplines and is also engaged in non-sporting activities - tourism, gatherings and leisure, mobility, transport, road safety and public policy, and the environment.
At the political level, the FIM is the spokesman for the motorcycling community. Together with its partners, ACEM, FEMA and FIA, the FIM contributes to the debate on all motorcycling related topics. The FIM has taken on the responsibility to make motorcycle riding a safe, environmentally friendly and enjoyable activity not only now but also in the future.
The FIM is recognised by the European Union Institutions as one of the official representative associations of the motorcycling community and is a regular counterpart to EU officials at the highest level when dealing with technical and regulatory aspects for sports, motorcycling and transport issues.

GoPedelec www.gopedelec.eu
The GoPedelec consortium is convinced that electric bicycles will play a significant role in urban transport as well as in promotion of tourism in a European context. The electrification of bicycles is one of the main innovations in the bicycle industry since the last 30 years. However it is only after a test ride on such a bicycle that people are convinced off the advantages and possibilities of this mode of transport. It is for that reason that the GoPedelec consortium promotes pedelecs by means of organizing road-shows for the general public as main tool to promote the use of this means
of transport.
Main goals of the project are:
- To reduce of short commuter trips in a range of less than 15 km. In many EU member states about 50 % of all trips under 15 km are done by car. A small reduction of these short trips would already result in a considerable reduction of CO² emissions.
- To promote the use of pedelecs in the tourist industry and in tourist regions. Offering pedelecs in rental systems in urban or rural tourist areas offers a relatively cheap and very attractive, flexible way to get to know and visit tourist attractions. Not only are these pedelec rental systems profitable for entrepreneurs but also it is clear that by offering these kind of active
and sustainable transport modes the image of a region can be improved.
- To promote pedelecs as a fully-fledged urban transport mode. In the Netherlands and in Germany pilots have been carried out in which pedelec rental systems in combination with public transport play a prominent role.
GreensEFA in European Parliament www.greens-efa.eu
GreensEFA will have an information stand on EU issues related to urban mobility and cycling.

PRESTO www.presto-cycling.eu
PRESTO offers a valuable contribution for the benefit of sustainable mobility by promoting daily cycling in urban environments. This European project is about competence building in cycling policies and aims at offering a set of tools (i.e. training material and e-learning courses) for urban policy makers and city planners to create cycle friendly urban environments, to start up targeted promotion campaigns and to promote the use of pedelecs.
The project aims at involving individual users as well, who may benefit from participating at local events organised by the cities (e.g. bicycle festivals) and “try-out days” of pedelecs to see the advantages for themselves. Expertise and know-how on cycling policy was gathered in 4 policy guides an 25 fact sheets available in various languages on the website. Moreover, in the period September to December 2011, European stakeholders may take part in 7 free on-line courses on implementing cycling policies in cities with low cycling mode share.
PRESTO is a project of the EU’s Intelligent Energy – Europe Programme. Presto’s consortium involves 12 European partners including 5 cities with different mode shares for cycling.
