TRANSPORTATION SOLUTIONS

Ansaldo STS has the experience and resources to provide innovative transport systems for conventional and high-speed railway lines, regional and freight lines, marshalling yards, metro and tram lines. SIGNALLING SYSTEMS

Railway companies need increasingly more efficient traffic control systems that enable them to reduce investment depreciation periods, increasing the use of infrastructure. Requirements relating to safety and speed of operation, the capacity to monitor and manage systems, together with high efficiency levels and low costs, are therefore essential.

Ansaldo STS guarantees that all projects meet the specific national requirements demanded by the client, and at the same time offers the benefits of working with an international company. The main business lines are: Operation & Traffic Control, ERTMS/ETCS, Computer Based Interlocking for single station or multi-station solutions, wayside signalling systems and equipment, On board automation and vital equipment, Operation support systems and Communication Based Train Control (CBTC).

As well as developing application software for traffic control on rail and metro lines, Ansaldo STS has three production facilities, located in France, Italy and the US. More than 600 specialist engineers (graduates and qualified personnel) carry out burn-in, run-in and environmental trials (including vibration and electromagnetic compatibility tests) and functional trials relating to the integration of subsystems necessary to ensure vital electronics systems. These tests relate to the most important products for rail traffic control, including: automatic block systems, point machines, signals, equipment for train/wayside data transmission, relays, hot box detectors, level crossings and event recorders.
